After the revolution of 1911 overthrew the Qing Dynasty, the government of the Republic of China decided to use the Gregorian calendar, which called January 1 “New Year’s Day”. Later, the People’s Republic of China was founded. In order to better communicate with the world, it also decided to adopt the universal Gregorian calendar, which is now our common solar calendar. So, before the “New Year’s Day” became the Spring Festival, and the Gregorian calendar on January 1 is replaced as New Year’s Day.
